Forget everything you ever knew about Candlestone Golf Resort. The resort has been and is currently being completely reinvented, overhauled, and renovated from floor to ceiling. Candlestone came under new ownership in July, 2008, since then General Manager Mike Husby and recently added Restaurant Manager Glenn Granger have brought the entire resort on par with every other high-end public golf course and/or resort in the area. Plans have been drawn up, changes have been implemented, and many have already seen the results of a very extensive rejuvenation project, as the golf course is now open for play.

Golfers will still enjoy the same great layout of the course with many noticeable improvements to the condition of the fairways and the greens.   Several holes have been opened up to more sunlight. The tee boxes have been realigned and elevated and several bunkers have been redesigned. 

Ladies’ clinics, junior clinics, senior clinics, and other member-focused events are planned in 2009.

Included in the total facility makeover were extensive renovations of the hotel and a completely new restaurant. The largest overhaul to the resort has been with the restaurant and banquet facility. The existing restaurant had been completely gutted, including the kitchen, and redesigned from a blank slate.

The hotel has been transformed from a dated and tired building to a state-of-the-art 21^st-century facility. Guests will notice the difference upon arrival with a newly remodeled and updated lobby. Contemporary colors and lots of natural daylight create a natural and inviting atmosphere for those checking in. And this is just a prelude to what they’ll find in their rooms.

All 24 hotel rooms have received fresh paint, new beds, and flat screen televisions. The hotel still offers great golf course views, free wireless internet and a complimentary continental breakfast in a charming new breakfast nook. Guests may still choose between a standard room with two queen beds and a deluxe suite, which features a king-size bed, dining area, living area, and two full baths, and cable programming

With the improvements already made to the course, and with those planned for the near future, management has committed to keeping the golf course in high-level tournament condition. This includes a continued relationship with The West Michigan Amateur, which has been held at Candlestone for the last 20 years.

Alongside the new restaurant is the completely revamped Candlelight Room with a large dance floor, private restrooms, and the capacity to accommodate up to 225 guests. This venue is ideal for a wedding – ceremony on the golf course; and reception at the lodge. The banquet facilities can also accommodate business meetings, holiday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, family reunions, and more.
