We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Kevin. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you at this time.  Best regards; Rick and Linda Gunderson

Cecil and family,
Kevin was my favorite resident at Metron. He was so bright and constantly made me laugh with his trivia and abundance of knowledge. He brought much joy and touched my life in many ways. He will be missed by all and I'll miss talking with Cecil late at night when he visited as well. I'm looking up at heaven and know Kevin is doing everything he couldn't do while he was living. Enjoy.  Take care, Cherie-one of his midnight nurses

I am sorry to hear of Kevin's passing.  I cared for him at the Metron a while ago.  He is one of Jerry's kids that out lived the disease.  od Bless you, Kevin.  Ruth

Kevin was an amazing person, he brought laughter to many lives. I will always remember his smile, his humor and of course his stubborness. Metron will not be the same without him. He will be missed. *Jill (Respiratory)

Harold Lewis Sova
I am sorry for your loss. Couldn't ask for a better family to be friends with.
logster12@hotmail.com

With sympathy and prayers for Ruth and all the Sova family.
Love, Gary and Beverly

My thoughts and prayers are with Harolds family at this difficult time.
Harold was always willing to help those in need; and he did. He did it out of the kindness of his heart; he was able to tell if you truely needed help or you were just trying to get a deal. He played along with you; you couldn't fool Harold
I had the honor to work for Harold and his son Tom at Altrons in Grand Rapids many years ago.
Thru the years I got to know the family pretty well and I can honestly say if you were friends with the Sovas you were friends for life; heck Andy was my Best man at my wedding.
So again; you are all in my prayers and may God watch over all of you during this difficult time

I look forward to seeing the family and sharing with you all in the celebration of his life. I see you on Wednesday afternoon. God Bless Your Family and Keep You All Safe In His Loving Arms. Love you all A. Ora

I am so sorry to hear about Harold. I was not fortunate enough to be able to meet him, however, after meeting most of the family, I know he was a great person and did an excellent job at raising his Family. You are all in my prayers and thoughts, I know he will be sadly missed.
Sincerely,
Shalyn Ralston (Ray's friend)

know I shouldn't get attached to the residents, but the heart yells louder than common sense. Your dad always made me laugh. I had such fun spinning him around in his chair during the birthday celebrations. Seeing the delight in his face and hearing him laugh was priceless. Prior to this job, I would have never done that for fear of what others would think. I no longer care. If I embarrass myself to make someone else feel joy, it's worth it. It was apparent to me that you and your dad were close and I cannot imagine the bundle of emotions you are tackling. I know one day..down the road, I will have to face losing my mom. I shutter to think of that. But, I just wanted you to know that your dad will be deeply missed and that he helped to bring laughter to those that had forgotten how to have fun. He was a constant jokester and I know his many words of wit will keep popping up throughout the rest of my life. He made an impact. He wasn't a cranky, sullen man...he l!
ived to entertain and he did just that. Sending you and your family blessings of peace to ease you through this painful time. I am working all week and will be unable to make the visit or service, but please know I will be thinking of all of you and praying for a peaceful journey for your dad. Althea Powell

Hallo Jerry,
Lieve groet,
Arnold en Anneke Poortman.

Dear Jerry and family,

It really was a shock to us when we recieved your mail with the message that Anne had passed away. We just recently knew that she was ill but very
optimistic about her illnes so that we had no idea how bad it was.
In her we loose a close friend, this summer i would knew her for 40 years.
We always enjoyed her staying here during the trips to here homeland, the Netherlands. She loved spreaking Dutch with us, a language she spoke even very well although she was just 4 years old when she left our country.
She even kept a Gronings accent. Anne was a warm and beautiful person. She loved travelling around with us to all the beautiful places in Europe, in perticular her trip with Bart to the Czech Republic, where she met a few of
nice people who became friends.
We will mis her visits, for us our visit to you Jerry and Anne was a highlight in our lives. We enjoyed it so much, the trip with her to Canada was a very special one we will never forget. In her we loose one of our most beloved friends.
Dear Jerry and family, we wish you very much strength in this coming time without your beloved Anne.

Groningen, Netherlands, 28 april 2011.
Bart de Boer and Jacques de Meer.

Dear Jerry,
We'll remember Anne forever! It was always nice when she was in Groningen to visit us. In 2009 she visited Groningen and made a visit to my new home. It was nice to see her again. I never thougt it was the last time.
Now she will live in our memories! I wish you all the strenght you need.
With Love,
Marleen de Boer (Daughter of Bart)

Sorry to learn about your sister.
DEATH IS NOTHING AT ALL
I have only slipped away into
the next room.
I am I, and you are you,
Whatever we were to each other,
that we are still.

Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity
or sorrow.
   Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes that we
enjoyed together.

   Play, smile, think of me,
pray for me.

Let my name be ever the
household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort,
Without the ghost of a shadow upon it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
   There is absolute and
unbroken continuity.

What is the death but a
negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you,
for an interval,
   Somewhere very near,
   Just round the corner.

All is well.

-Henry Scott Holland

Cy...sorry about your dad. You talked of him often, he was always on your mind. You were a great son to him. I know you will miss him.

Your father was my ex-husband's supervisor at Michigan Bell back in the early 70's.  Ex-Dorwin Mattice (known as Mouse) respected your dad so much and so did I.  I remember visiting your mom after she slipped on the steps in her nylon stocking feet and fell down the stairs and broke her back.  What a fantastic couple.  We were young in our 20's and they were like parents.  And I am sure they were great ones.  I haven't ever forgotten how much they touched our lives.  My deepest sympathy and hold onto those wonderful memories.

Charles Richard Walker
I would like to offer my sincerest condolence on the death of Charles Richard Walker.  No matter when a love one leaves they are gone too soon.  Death separates family members and this results in deep sorrow. The loving memories of him will help during this critical time.  Please accept my sentiments.  Even the strong may weep under the weight of grief. God is willing to give you the necessary wisdom and strength for healing.  Jesus wept when he lost his dear friend.  However, he said, “do not let your heart be troubled”.  (John 14:27)   He said: “I am the resurrection and the life”. (John 11:25)  So despite the pain of grief, never give up. Let it be your resolve to continue to work your way through your sorrow and mourning. I did not know Charles Richard Walker personally.  I read his obituary.  May you find comfort and peace. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal”-Unknown

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family at this sad time.
Charlie will truly be missed.  Sorry for your loss.

Burdette Wright
                                                        IN MEMORY OF BURDETTE WRIGHT
                                                           December 29, 1921 to August 5, 2010

I met Burdette on thanksgiving Day 1998. I was invited for thanksgiving dinner to meet the family that I would be part of in the next two years. Everyone greeted me at the door with hugs and smiles of welcome. From that day on I felt so much a part of the family and felt so loved. That day in November started a beautiful journey for me. Each and every time I visited, I was greeted with hugs and smiles and words like, "It's good to see you", "I love you too", and "Take care of that fella there." That fella is my husband, Michael, and the person saying those words to me was Burdette. How could you not love this wonderful man?

Burdette was one of those gentile giants. So kind to everyone he met, so caring and giving even to the smallest of God's creatures. He loved the rabbits, ground and tree squirrels and all feathered friends. He loved to feed them all and would watch out the window to see them come and go. That was his reality TV. Burdette was a farmer and so enjoyed the out-of-doors. A big garden was a summertime must. He enjoyed seeing things grow. The harvest of tomatoes, cucumbers and vegetables was a sharing time with family and friends.

Burdette was a humble man, not wanting for material things. He delighted in giving to others, especially his family. He enjoyed doing word puzzles and would let me help him solve some. Although he knew the answers, he would let me figure out so many entries and on completion of one puzzle after another, he would say "I couldn't have done it without you." I knew different, he was so wise, quick witted, so good at building you up, always making you feel good about yourself. Picture puzzles were another hobby that he would lay out and work on.  When I came to visit he enjoyed working on them with me. He had a good eye and knew where every piece went, like a carpenter building a house, he would measure the outside to make sure that each side and corner piece was in the right place.

Burdette was one of an elite group, "The greatest Generation", a veteran of WWII. He was a life member of the Lakeview Hough/Pontius VFW Post 3701 and very proud of it. He told stories of his time in the Army during WWII. Always a funny tale of things he did or saw. He never talked about the bad elements of war.

I feel so honored to have shared twelve wonderful years in this family and with this very special giving, caring and loving person. I was privileged to share in his final hours, to witness his bravery again as a good soldier, as he carried the burden of death so courageously, and slipped so silently into eternity. I loved this man, as I know so many others did also. He leaves a great void. One that cannot be filled by mere mortal man. I will miss his smile, his laugh that made you laugh along with him. He will be missed.

With much love and respect,
Your daughter-in-law Fran and "That fella there," Michael

When I look in the mirror I see my father in me. Little did I realize that when I became an adult he would have had such a profound impact on my life. My father was a great provider. He worked well into the night everyday so his family of seven would never go without. My father sacrificed his dreams and aspirations thruout his life so his wife and children could secure theirs.  When I look in the mirror I see that I have become the man that I looked up to for so many years and I am very sorry that I never took the time to thank him.
I will miss you Dad.

We are so sorry to hear of Peg's passing.  We have some great memories of playing pool with her and going to Halloween parties at Seleskys' home!  Sorry we couldn't be with you now-Love and Prayers,
Barb & Kirk Perry

Sorry, to hear about Peg.  I'm Pat Hansen Miller.  We graduated from the same nursing class at Butterworth.  Everytime I would talk to her, she would say she wasn't well.  I'm from Stanton.  I live at Clifford Lake.  I lost my husband, Jerry Miller, in 2006.  Our parents use to take turns bringing us home for the weekend in our first year at Butterworth.  I called a couple of the other classmates.  I'm sorry I couldn't come today and I can't make it tomorrow. My condolences to the whole family.
Pat

Elmer (Al) F. Gietzen
To Uncle Elmer and your family and extended family, Our heartfelt condolences go to you and yours. I will miss our extended conversations on business and investing as you had quite the extensive knowledge in it and information to share with others. We will miss you at the family reunions but hope you are there inspirit.
Love, Craig and Karen Dumas, Jack, and Ella

Jeff, Kathy & family...Just wanted you to know that you and your family are in our prayers...that you will feel "His" arms of support and comfort around each of you! Much love and many blessings,

Millie & Family, My sympathies in the loss of Al. He will be greatly missed but remembered fondly by all of you.  Al was a great mentor and coach for me during my short career at Michigan Bell. He helped me grow to be able to handle the very largest accounts. I will always remember the hospitality that Millie and Al showed to Paul and I over the yesrs. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Joan Bruhnke Tolley

I'm deeply sorry for your loss of our dear Uncle Elmer.  Whenever he was with the extended Gietzen family, he always was interested in catching up on what we were all doing and was upbeat about his own health.  He is now with  five siblings, Joe, Rita, Dorothy, Marian, and Lorraine, who will care for him.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Genie Brower Collins

Wilford C. "Bill" Krick
Thelma, We are so sorry to hear of Bill's passing, I remember him well when I was growing up in the Greenville area.  (I used to work with you at Dr. Halicks office)  Your family is in our thoughts and prayers during this time.  Norma Hutchinson

Jerry & Kathy, I was so suprised to hear that Bill had passed away over the weekend.  My sister-in-law(Karen Buchholz) just called me tonight(Friday) to tell me, otherwise I would have come to the funeral home.  I would have loved to see your sister and brothers - it has been so long.  It is sad that is the only time we seem to see each other.  Did any of the Clark's from Ionia come?
kjmorris50@sbcglobal.net

Sue, Dennis and the entire Krick Family,  Please accept my sincere sympathy upon the loss of your Dad.  He was a kind and gentle man. I am sorry for your family's loss.  Samantha, do you remember when your dad came to second grade as a guest speaker?  He carved tomatoes, radishes, etc. into flowers for garnishes.  He made it look so easy! Know that I am thinking of you, Amanda, Shannon and Zach - you are all such good kids!

To the family of Donald Ridenour,  I am greatly sorry to hear about your loss.  He was a great person and a joy to hang out with.  I apologize for not being able to make it to the funeral or anything, I am in college and have a test today at noon.  Once again, I am sorry to hear about your loss and I know that he is in a better place.  Don was a very gentle, funny guy.  He would always make me laugh when he would come into the gas station and talk to me.  If there is anything at all that I could do to help you please let me know.  Best of wishes to all and you will be in my prayers.

      Reflections
I look into the mirror
When I stare real long I see
The reflection of you there
Standing next to me.
The sadness in my heart
Is softened ever so much
By the memory of your laughter
And your not so gentle touch.
Fond memories that I have....
You playing air guitar with a chair
Though you were only yards away
A New Years eve you were not there.
There is no answer good enough
To accept the loss of you
I wait for empty words....
He had greater things to do.
I will continue forward
Though it is with heavy heart
Your family needs me now
Oh God...Where do I start
The road of life is rough
And treacherous along the way
No one saw this coming
Oh my, what a long...long day.
Dedicated to Don

Grandpa, When i heaar the song "I Miss You", by Miley Cyrus, I will think of you... "I miss you, I miss your smile, and I still shed a tear every once in a while, and even though it's different now, your still here somehow, but I can't let you go, and I need you to know I miss you, sha-la-la-la-la, i miss you!I know your in a better place in the memorey of Jehovah God. I can't wait until the paradise when I'll see you again, and be able to run up to you and give you a kiss and tell you all thats happened over the time you've been gone and tell you how much I've missed you and glad your back in my arms where you were always meant to be.I can't wait until your back , and we can go to Lake Michigan, Lighthouse Park, and all the other places we used to go. I love you so much, and all of our family does too, i wish you could understand how hard it was to live without you, and how much we misse, cried, and loved you.It was hard to imagine life without you, and now we know what it's like, it hurts but it's better than seeing you suffer and knowing that soon Jehovah will awaken you and restore you to a knew and perfect body!I will always remember your smile, love, hugs, and laugh, they were what i needed to remember... I can't wait until we can return to Manistee and remind you of all we used to do and what we will be able to do in the paradise forever!I love you so much and wish you could know that!! With more love than you can imagine,

At this most difficult time, I would like to send my sincere condolences. I didn't know Chris that well, but took great notice of him as he grew up. He impressed me with his respect of others and his love of his family. His unselfishness carried him in his belief that he was here to help others. He has my utmost respect and I hope he will be praying for all of us now.

I remember when you would stop with him & Lucas & Clayton at the bank in Greenville. He always had a smile that lit up the room. I know for sure that smile is shining bright in heaven.

I will miss Carolyn very much.  She always had a good word and a cheerful attitude or a witty remark.  She would do anything she could for you.  She gave a lot of herself to a lot of people.  Thankyou Carolyn for your life.

We attend Cowden Lake Christen Church with Carolyn. We are so shocked at her passing. She was a very nice, quiet, godly lady. She always sat in the back pew on the left side of our church, this last sunday a few of us noticed that she was not there, very unlike Carolyn. We will surely miss her, but we know that she is in a much better place. God bless!

My heartfelt sympathy to the family on the loss of my great-aunt, Viginia Kurnat. Time and distance has kept us apart, but family is always in my thoughts. With love and sympathy, nephew Franc Harrington, (Michelle, Jason, Nicholas, Allie and Taylor), Anchorage, Alaska.
Franc Harrington

There are many sweet memories of my Aunt Virginia. She was always loving and kind to me. I especially remember a beautiful red dress she bought me as a child. It is odd how those little kindnesses stay with you all your adult life. I have cried for her and said the Lord's Prayer for her. That seeems so insignificant after all the great memories she has given me. I hope she is with my Mom, Ruby. They would both be so pleased about that.
Joanna (Boots) Harrington

Jack R. DeBoer
Dear Mandie, Stacy, Lindsay & all other family and friends,  Jack was a wonderful friend to me.  I was one of the last people to see him alive I have been told.  For that time together, I will be forever grateful.  Jack spoke of his family so often that I felt that I knew each and everyone of you.  His passing was a shock and I don't know that I will ever understand the reasons, but I do know this :  "  I am a better person for knowing Jack ".  With love and admiration,

To the family of Jack DeBoer.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  Many years ago I hired Jack to work for me at Wolohan Lumber in Greenville; not knowing it would inspire a great friendship.  Years later while selling real estate I got the previledge of being hired by Jack to sell his log cabin home in Gowen.  Although I haven't spoken to him for a few years, I can still recall the many conversations we had about our families, weight lifting and health.  He will be sadly missed and I know he had a great positive effect on many people's lives.  Just remember you now have another guardian angel watching over you from above.  God Bless!!
